Puede que al leer ésto te resulte interesante, por no decir sospechoso, que sea un fotógrafo de bodas quien te explique cómo seleccionar a tu propio fotógrafo. Es lo primero que pensé cuando se me ocurrió escribir este artículo, pero después de oir tantas vivencias de fracasos y desilusiones que evidentemente ahora mismo no tienen solución, me siento en la obligación de aportar mi granito de arena para que no caigáis en los mismos errores y estropeen un recuerdo para toda la vida.
Por eso aquí os dejo una secuencia de puntos que debéis plantearos o cuestiones que podéis hacerle al profesional que elijáis, para tener más claro los pasos que os llevarán a seleccionar a vuestro fotógrafo de bodas.

¿Que equipo utiliza tu fotógrafo de bodas?
¿Es suficiente para cubrir un evento de esas características? Contrariamente a lo que imagináis, voy a comenzar con un consejo que no os servirá de nada, y no es broma.
He escuchado y leído en tantísimos sitios lo importantísimo que es saber sobre la marca y el número de cámaras que van a llevar los fotógrafos, los objetivos, los filtros, flashes, etc. Bien… poniéndonos serios, estamos ante dos realidades principales: Si no entiendes de fotografía, no te va a ser útil en absoluto entender si utiliza Sony, Canon, Nikon o Leica. ¿Sabes cuál es la diferencia entre un 24-120 y un 50mm? ¿Sabes qué diferencia hay entre utilizar un flash o luz continua?
Sin embargo si sois unos buenos novatos apasionados o inclusive expertos de la foto, sabréis que el equipo que utilice no significa que sea un buen fotógrafo. Sólo la práctica y la experiencia hacen que se adquiera la creatividad, el talento, la capacidad y el arte que llevan a un buen fotógrafo a hacer excepcionales trabajos sin importar tanto el equipamiento.
Hay fotógrafos que trabajan con acompañamiento de iluminación importante y otros lo hacen sólo con la luz del entorno. Algunos expertos se inclinan por Sony, otros por Nikon, etc. Unos eligen una óptica fija y otros se inclinan por objetivos de óptica variable. Lo único importante al fin es el resultado que obtiene un fotógrafo con cualquier persona independientemente del equipo que utilice.
Y esto nos lleva al segundo punto de esta guía:
Reportaje de boda terminado. Asegúrate de ver trabajos completos.
Como profesional te diré que sin distinción, todos los fotógrafos de boda, exponemos lo destacado de nuestros trabajos. La cuestión es: ¿qué pasa con el resto de las fotografías de una boda? Pero no nos transforma en una panda de manipuladores el hecho de exhibir lo verdaderamente importante de un informe de boda; sencillamente es habitual que uno enseñe esos trabajos de los que se sienta fundamentalmente orgulloso. Lo que te va a proporcionar una pista sustancial acerca de cómo va a ser el resto del trabajo son las otras fotos de un reportaje, que tienen una importancia particular y exclusiva para los usuarios de aquella boda. Lo que supone que emocionalmente no tienen por qué decirte nada a ti, pero son valiosas para sus personajes principales como lo van a ser para nosotros vuestras propias imágenes.
Conclusión: es muy importante que veáis trabajos de reportajes de bodas terminados, para lograr haceros un concepto más certera de la talla del fotógrafo de bodas que estáis evaluando. Indudablemente esto nos transporta al siguiente punto.
Vais a tener que ver muchas imágenes aunque sea superficialmente y de manera ligera porque…
¿Cuántas imágenes se hacen en una boda? ¿Importa verdaderamente la cantidad?
Y aquí nos encontramos con otra paradoja! A ver si me explico: Desde que la tecnología digital se implantó de manera absoluta en nuestros equipos, la carrera por incrementar la aptitud de nuestras tarjetas de memoria, no paró. Y como consecuencia el incremento del número de fotografías realizadas en cualquier sesión fue en aumento de la misma forma. Cuando había que meter carretes de imágenes en la cámara, teníamos muy presente el número y la aptitud de estos, puesto que poseían un coste de acuerdo con la marca, el tipo y el número de imágenes que podíamos llevar a cabo con ellos. Aparte del revelado de cada uno, que poseía un coste todavía mayor. Por consiguiente, se poseía extrema cautela con el número de imágenes y el instante correspondiente para hacerlas.
Hoy la situación nos coloca en un lugar totalmente distinto porque tenemos la posibilidad de llevar a cabo todas las imágenes que nos plazca. ¿Hay un número correcto de imágenes? ¿Será mejor un fotógrafo por tirar más fotos? Te voy a poner dos casos opuestos y tú juzgas luego lo que mejor te parezca: Un fotógrafo de bodas se enfrenta continuamente a situaciones imprevistas y cambiantes, frente las que sólo es viable realizar muchas fotos consecutivas y elegir más adelante las buenas.
En el otro supuesto está un fotógrafo que pretende mejorar escrupulosamente una escena, para que su ejecución sea impecable, dominando su conjunto, luz, etc. Ejecuta una exclusiva toma en el instante adecuado ¿Cuál crees que es mejor?
De todos modos un mismo fotógrafo tiene la posibilidad de aprovechar totalmente las opciones que le da la tecnología. Por consiguiente, el número de fotos no es un aspecto esencial para la selección de tu fotógrafo de bodas. Como te decía en el punto previo la clave está en ver trabajos terminados.
Conoce a tu fotógrafo en persona
Es fundamental saber quién va a realizar tu reportaje. Nadie duda de que la foto es un arte pero eso no significa que todo el que que realiza fotos es un artista. Cuando te planteas esto de buscar fotógrafo, a lo mejor no te percatas de que en el fondo, vas a seleccionar a quien inmortalice los instantes del día de vuestra boda por medio de la foto… Entonces: ¿qué sentido tiene contratar los servicios de un fotógrafo del que no conoces su trabajo?
El buen rollo es importante, que os caiga bien y os sintáis a gusto con la persona que os va a hacer vuestro reportaje de boda. Debéis conocerlo en persona antes de contratar sus servicios, preguntarle todas vuestras dudas y estar completamente seguros.
Localizaciones para las fotografías de bodas.
Lo normal es que no te lo hayas planteado, pero dependiendo del horario que hayáis elegido para hacer vuestra boda vais a condicionar bastante el trabajo del fotógrafo de bodas. No es lo mismo hacer un reportaje en julio a las tres de la tarde, que en octubre a las ocho cayendo la noche. Para nosotros la luz lo es todo.
Los fotógrafos profesionales de Málaga entendemos realmente bien que no hay dos viviendas iguales, y los sitios donde realizaréis los preparativos esconden multitud de dificultades y oportunidades que un óptimo profesional ha de conocer a tiempo y explotar en provecho.
Es importante que sepa dónde se va a celebrar la ceremonia, si al aire libre, en iglesia, ayuntamiento… debe saber con antelación qué cantidad de luz habrá y los espacios disponibles.
El álbum de boda.
Tenéis que tener en cuenta que puede ser una forma práctica de ver vuestras fotos en cualquier momento, sin depender del ordenador ni correr el riesgo de perderlas. En cuanto a la calidad, debéis tener el cuenta que no puedes comparar un Hoffmann a un book profesional de alta gama. Las imágenes lucen de otra manera! Aquí no pretendemos venderte nada, sólo decirte que un fotógrafo profesional puede proporcionarte esta clase de álbumes. Interésate por los acabados que puede sugerirte. Trata de ver y tocar materiales, diferentes tapas, tipos de papel fotográfico y encuadernaciones. Además, ver un book terminado además nos va a proporcionar un concepto del trabajo final del profesional.
Que entrega un fotógrafo de bodas
No siempre se incluye álbum en un pack, por ejemplo, si incluye preboda o postboda, hasta cuándo se queda el día de la boda… Todo debe quedar bien recogido en el contrato, con pelos y señales, y si queréis añadir alguna particularidad al mismo, habladlo con él.

¿Fotos de bodas Clásicas?, ¿Fotografía de bodas Moderna?, ¿Fotos naturales de bodas?, ¿Fotografía de bodas con posados?, sea cual sea tu estilo debe de ser el mismo al fotógrafo contratado.
A nadie le amarga un dulce y esta claro que si nos ofrecen una promoción, estaremos encantados de aprovecharla. Pero tened en cuenta que el trabajo de una persona hay que pagarlo y que todo esto conlleva unos gastos que de debe cubrir. No so dejéis arrastrar por precios bajos, packs que incluyen de todo por muy poco, porque normalmente la calidad de los acabados no son lo que esperamos y después no hay marcha atrás.
